My Best Tool

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:27 am

During saftey programs at local schools we are often asked what is the most important tool a fireman uses. To that i would often say the axe. The axe is probably on of the most used tool a fireman can have, we always have it at our side. To better explain when we talk to small child we can often make a comparision with a knight is shinning armor equipped with a sword. This may sound a little bit far fetched but it has more similarites than you might think.

The knight first occupation is to protect the people, he is equipped to do so and it is a matter of responsabilities and honor. His best weapon to fight a raging enemy or wage war is the medieval sword.

In many was to firman’s axe is similar to the knight’s medieval sword, because they are both the most important tool they have to take down their worst enemy, in our case the fire. The axe is used to cut, make holes in roof and walls, it is indispensable and it is always by our side, without it we would be missing an important tools to save lives and we would also be risking our lives even more. The same can be said for the knight and his sword.

  1. Wondered why the great interest in swords, but yes the axe is similar and a great ‘fighting tool’. Came across this site while searching for something else. Down Under we mainly hear about the big fires in CA. I was born in a v. rural area - the farmers had to fight bush fires with anything at their disposal. Stay safe!
