History and Facts
A. Chartered Under The Tennessee General Act of 1970 on June 15th
1992.
B. Chartered as a Not-For-Profit Corporation to provide, help provide,
and to promote the provision of fire protection in community.
C. The organization is governed by Policies and Procedures and By-laws.
D. The P.V.F.D. serves an unincorporated area of 125 square
miles and over 4000 residents.
E. The fire department was started when members of the
Paulette community banned together to purchase a used 1960 model fire
engine. The fire department has now grown to boast nine vehicles in two-three
bay stations, one in Paulette and the other in Hickory Valley.
F. ISO Rating: Rated a Class NINE (9) from the Insurance
Services Organization
G. Our dispatch operates on a frequency of 453.075 MHz
H. The main office is located at 451 Highway 61 West, one
mile off of Maynardville Highway (State Route 33).
I. The fire department has around 40 members who
volunteer time to not only fight fires, but to repair and maintain
equipment, care for the buildings and grounds, present fire safety programs
at the local schools, and manage the department's funds. The membership,
with bi-annual elections for a chief run the Departments daily operations,
governed by a board of directors whom oversee all financial issues.
J. The firefighters at Paulette put in over 2100
man-hours last year in formal training sessions. Much of the training is
in-house. However, many firefighters have gone to the Tennessee State Fire
Academy in Murfreesboro for firefighting tactics and pumper operation
classes. Classes are also taught at the regional training center in Clinton,
Tennessee. Anyone is welcome to join the fire department, either to aid as a
firefighter or to help out in the many other important jobs.
Area Served
One hundred twenty five square miles,
including Paulette, Loyston, Beard Valley, Hickory Valley, Little Valley,
and the Big Ridge Communities and over 4000 residents.

A Note Regarding Donations
Please note:
Paulette Volunteer Fire Departments budget is mainly based upon the
donations made by the public. In April and August of each year, the
department sends out letters via mail requesting donations that may be
returned by mail. Please make checks payable to Paulette Volunteer Fire
Department. We will issue receipts upon request for tax deduction purposes.
WE DO NOT SOLICIT BY TELEPHONE. If there are

Our fundraising events also include a
pecan sale and annual rummage sale by the Ladies Auxiliary, as well as boot
drives and community dinners. An annual brochure is mailed to residents
requesting contributions and outlining the department's previous year's
activities, income, and expenses. The department also receives $12,000 a
year from the county government. On average, the department's budget runs
around $45,000. |
