Collectible Military Swords

Military swords are that class of blades of different shapes and sizes that were known to have been used by military officials back when they were still in fashion. While there are indeed military officials from different armies that still have swords with them, they are no more used as an accessory to the military uniform or otherwise some sort of symbol, unlike before when they were actually used in combat.

Military swords have almost become a staple weapon for the various types of forces from all over the world way back in the old days. Unlike the medieval swords which were meant to be really heavy and equally powerful, military swords were built to be light but fiercely sharp blades that could be dangerous in the hands of a skilled swordsman. They were light because the military officials during the time when these swords were sported did not wear heavy armor and they relied on their speed rather than armor for effectiveness in battle. Running around the battlefield while dragging around a very heavy iron sword, after all, isn’t such a good idea in the context of war.

Military swords come in various forms such as sabers and falchions. These swords also have lots of variations in between, but the ones similar to those mentioned vary in terms of utility and style. This kind of variation is also affected by the origin of the army using it. For example, the original pieces of the Cold Steel 1796 Light Cavalry Saber was used generally by Western and American armies, which was different from the military swords the Cold Steel 1830 napoleon Saber was based on. The latter type was used by the Europeans.

In any case, military swords are not just symbols; they can be collectibles as well. They are a category that you can’t have without in your sword collection if you’re planning to make the most out of your hobby. There are lots of military swords out there that you can have and they all have some historical value in them, which is an added taste to any collection of swords.

Consider adding to your collection swords like: the 1860 U.S. Heavy Cavalry Saber or the 1917 cutlass sword by cold steel, they are of the highest quality and they can be bought at very affordable prices. See the complete collection of Military Swords and Civil War Swords by Cold steel.
